Hobbies

I feel like these days my blogs are getting a little bit repetitive since I continuously talk about the same thing! But, this week I was sick so I couldn’t exercise but I did manage to get some reading in because I was in bed all day. After reading Translating the Message, I feel like a huge reading burden was lifted off of me so reading Cane felt great. Usually, I felt a little bit guilty when I read books not related to school when I had school-related reading assignments. I’m going to be honest and say that reading Cane is hard too and it’s not the most exciting book in the world so it’s been taking me a while to read it. I have finished Cane because the book is divided into two sections: the actual book and all other stuff (like criticisms and letters to and from the author).

Most of my reading consists of going to the bookstore and reading little bits of books. There’s a Yes24 in my town and I go there to read Korean books. It really helped me pick up my passion for reading (surprisingly, there’s actually a bit left).

Other than that, this week wasn’t the most productive. I’m going on a trip next week to Hong Kong so I will definitely try to finish at least 1 book during that time.

I’ve learned this week that to pursue hobbies you need to put time and effort into it like everything else. I used to think that I should be putting all my effort into studying so that I could get into college. I had that typical student mindset but now I came to the realization that we need to work hard on every aspect of our life: academics, health, social life, happiness, etc.. In the end, everything, not just studying, is what makes us who we really are.
