Getting Back on Track

After coming back from Jeju-do, I focused on getting back on track with all my school stuff. I was behind on some of my classes which proved that I needed to get my mind back into school-mode. I fulfilled my goal of exercising for 3 hours this week by walking around my town. Although many people may not consider walking as exercising, the course around my town has many hills so it is quite the workout. For reading, 90% of my reading time was spent on Translating the Message but I didn’t read anything else (like my non-school related book).

I read this article that exercise can help you get out of a slump and it said that: “It is well known that exercise stimulates various brain chemicals, leaving you happier and more relaxed than before your worked out” (here the link if you want to check it out: https://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/getting-back-on-track-5-ways-to-pull-yourself-out-of-a-slump/).

After exercising this week, I realized that yes, it made me happier but it didn’t really make me feel super motivated. Something that did help me was making a time table. It gave me a little bit of satisfaction each time I checked something off and helped me stay on track with my school work. Most of the time I get lazy and don’t make a time table but I learned that it helps me stay focused and do my homework. I think I talked a lot about the time table but one disadvantage of it is that it gives a little bit of stress and the feeling that you have to finish your task quickly. However, that can be much better than just procrastinating and not being productive.

Instead of forcing myself, I thought that it would be better to just ease in. This week can be kind of seen as my “excused” week and hopefully next week I’ll feel more motivated since there are important things I need to prepare for such as tests.
